Super Concentrated Nutrition – 450 Litres per tub!

S-Chelate Protom is a super concentrated fertiliser giving an extra 200 litres per tub compared to our other compound fertilisers. Each 400 gram tub produces 450 litres of high-strength liquid tomato fertiliser for use outdoors or on the border in a greenhouse. Formulated specifically for tomatoes, it’s also ideal for chilli and sweet peppers and aubergines. Beneficial for strawberries, especially where they are grown in pots or baskets.

Economical – Save Money

Because it is so concentrated, the cost per litre of fertiliser made  is actually lower than our other fertilisers and others on the market. Costs 40% Less than the leading competitor for continuous feed system fertiliser.

Highly recommended for the following conditions:

• Soft water areas or where rain water is the primary water source. This is because soft water and rainwater lack calcium which is necessary to prevent blossom end rot. Severe calcium deficiency can result in the plant dying and complete crop failure.
• Greenhouse growing. The warm temperatures in greenhouses and polytunnels promote fast growth rates. This can result in the plants being unable to take up enough calcium, especially if the source supply is limited, resulting in blossom end rot and other problems associated with calcium deficiency.
• Growing tomato varieties prone to blossom end rot. Large oxheart tomatoes, San Marzano and some other plum tomatoes are particularly susceptible to this problem.

N.B. Blossom end rot can also be a problem with peppers and aubergines which are, like tomatoes, members of the Solanaceae family. S-Chelate Protom will provide the correct balance of nutrients and calcium to avoid the problem.

Fertigation

S-Chelate Protom is great for continuous feeding, fertigation systems – irrigating with water containing feed. Perfect for wicking pot systems like Quadgrows and Hozelock Growbag Waterer and continuous feed hydroponic systems like Easy Grow and Autopot. These systems are particularly susceptible to calcium deficiency which Protom is formulated to avoid.

Superior to Binary Fertilisers

Similar high-strength fertilisers usually come in two parts. The first part is only mixed with the second at time of use. Incorrect mixing, pH levels out of range and storage conditions can quickly cause chemical reactions, reducing the effectiveness of the fertiliser.

S-Chelate Protom is produced to the highest standards in the UK using propriety chelation technology. This means the fertiliser is stable and tolerant to a range of pH levels and storage conditions as well as easier to make up in the first place.

Environment

Super-concentrated S-Chelate Protom is supplied as a powder in a robust recyclable plastic tub, reducing shipping costs and packaging. Because of the biologically friendly S-Chelate technology, application rates are remarkably low so less product is used.

The chelated nutrients in S-Chelate Protom are the same as in our Soil Association Approved Cultiv-O range. They are biologically friendly and do not build up in the environment. Plants, soil microbes, worms, fish, bees, butterflies all benefited by using S-Chelate fertilisers.

Tried and Tested

S-Chelate Protom was proven in trials under controlled conditions at our Rothamsted Research glasshouse along with other fertilisers. Water Quality

If you are using tap water that is hard, above 250 ppm, you may see some cloudiness in the solution. This is because the solution is super-saturated with calcium. It will be just as effective for your plants but may cause problems of scale build-up with some narrow piped hydroponic systems.

If your water supply is over 250 ppm, we recommend the use of S-Chelate 12 Star instead of Protom
